Can anyone suggest any good engineering camps/programs? I really want to go to Cornell's Summer College program but I'm not too knowledgeable in the world of summer programs..Can anyone suggest anything?

Operation Catapult at Rose-Hulman is supposed to give a great introduction to many engineering fields. My daughter is going this summer. Partly because it will help her learn about a lot of engineering fields and decide whether that is a possible career for her. And partly because it just looks like a lot of fun.

It is for those finishing their junior year of HS, and I think the first session still has some space this summer (not sure about the second session).

This is a good listing of programs for high school students interested in engineering. [Summer Intro Programs/Camps](http://www.dedicatedengineers.org/Resources/summer_programs.htm)

I do not know of their availability.

Since you are not familiar with the “world of summer programs” I have a few points.
- There are a ton out there with many either free or at a reduced cost.
- Most of the ones that are free or at a reduced cost are competitive with the applications due starting in January and running through March so you have to be organized and plan for them in advance.
- There are a lot more than just the ones on the link I gave you. It is important to do research. You can look through this forum on college confidential for many programs especially the top thread. Also do more research-for example do a search on google for terms such as “pre-college program engineering” or “summer enrichment program for high school stem” Trust me you will find a ton of opportunities.
- Most colleges with engineering schools will have some type of summer program for high school students. They are trying to get students “into their pipeline” so look at college engineering websites and again look for the term pre-college.
- Engineering associations such as the Association of Material Engineers have programs. Here is the link for their listing. [Student Camp Schedule | Programs | ASM Materials Education Foundation](http://www.asminternational.org/portal/site/www/foundation/programs/student-camp-schedule/) I don’t know if any are still open.
- Many summer programs target minorities such as Latinos and African-American students and girls (since there are not a lot in the engineering field). If you fall into any of those groups then be on the lookout for those types of programs.

Good luck.

Thanks, I’m not looking for this summer but I’ll definetly take all of this into consideration!

My D did the engineering came at Notre Dame. She applied in December, they have two sessions. Excellent camp as it introduced you to all facets of engineering to help you decide if this a path for you or not. I would highly recommend it. [Welcome to the Introduction to Engineering Program at Notre Dame](Welcome to the Introduction to Engineering Program at Notre Dame)

I was surprised that she chose to stick with engineering as it is a tough path for a major and she definitely has to work for her grades. She just finished her 2nd year of college and has 1/2 of eng coursework complete. The program definitely was clear on what you are signing up for plus you got to be on Notre Dame campus. She ended up at smaller college with eng pgm and it has worked out well.

Here is another listing of some engineering summer programs. [College Lists / Summer Study - Architecture and-or Engineering](<a href=“College Lists Wiki / Summer Study - Architecture and-or Engineering”>College Lists Wiki / Summer Study - Architecture and-or Engineering)

As I said earlier it is important to do your own research. Everything I think I have found every summer engineering program; I then stumble upon new ones. If you don’t fid something that interests you just keep looking. New ones are being developed every year.

im going to rose and from what i heard its excellent for those interested in the braud field of engineering. im attending :)
