I have always loved to use my imagination to build, create, and design different things and I was thinking about majoring in mechanical engineering. I am rather hesitant about it though because of the heavy load of science and math. I am decent at both of those subjects, but I tend to get confused with long equations and calculations. I'm great at quick mental math though. I am worried that the heavy workload is going to prevent me from having a social life and that I won't be able to have any free time in college. How much time would I have for myself outside of class and studying?

Yes its a heavy workload, with math problem sets and labs, etc, but lots of majors can be time demanding. Both my s’s are engineers and both made time for social activities.

If u don’t work. You’Il have 30 hrs atleast a week of free time. That’s what Im still able to do when I’m not in class (work 30-34 hrs). Spend 5-6 hrs on sat/sun in any combination and the remaining 43 hrs on weekend is leisure time. Sometimes don’t need the 6 hrs on weekend if u catch up on weekdays pulling 1-3am nights lol
