Hi, I’m a junior wondering if I should just stop pursuing engineering since it’s unrealistic. My math score has always been around the 60s(NY). In addition it’s the grade that colleges look at the most. It has never improved dispute studying and my dream to go to MIT seems unrealistic. I will like to hear other opinions if what I’m doing seems reasonable.
We don’t have enough knowledge to help you.
What math/science/tech courses have you taken so far? What grades have you gotten in them? Did you find them too difficult/easy?
Are you involved in STEM outside of academics? Have you competed in any math/science competitions? Are you on math team, robotics team, computer science club, etc.?
I’m in an outside programming course where they teach programming for game development. I’m also in the robotics club in high school.
What Math courses have you taken?
I would think that engineering may not be the path for you as it is all about math.
MIT is definitely not the place for you. BUT there are 3000 other colleges in the USA that may be for you.
What about looking at a BA in Computer Science? That does not require as much math. Or Information Technology.
I’m currently taking Trigonometry. I guess I have to face reality and giveup this dream.
Maybe you could start at a community college and build a stronger math foundation?
Will I be able to go to a good university that has electronics engineering? All of my other classes are in the 90s. What is the math like for this field?
If you want to do ANY type of engineering, you have to have a good math foundation (even for „easier“ ones). You should consider going to a community college than transferring to a four year university or going to a university with the ability to help your weaknesses.
