can anyone tell me more about the engineering department?

Hi
I am going to UCR as an electrical engineering major. I just checked some rankings in ucr site, i got this
*
o 100th among national undergraduate engineering programs
o 38th among public schools of engineering
o 53rd in chemical engineering
o 57th in computer engineering
o 50th in environmental engineering

But i do not think that tells the whole story.

BCOE is considered to be the #1 engineering college for its size among public universities. (not sure what it means though)

Also the students are given many research opportunities and have classes that are not taught by TAs but professors themselves.

I also heard that many businesses gives ucr undergraduates internship and research opportunities.

Also i attended today’s discover day and I really liked it. The engineering building is pretty new so we get to work with fairly new materials and the school itself was really nice. I had no complaints except that it was like 92 degrees today :(

Ill add more stuff if i can find anything else.

The student rep. that talked to me told me that the avg income from a BCOE graduate last year was $60,000. Which is middle of the pack for Engineers. Their Engineering department is growing rapidly. They’re adding a new building for material engineers and the head of BCOE told me that the dean’s wish is to have UCR be an Engineering school.

Take it for what it’s worth.

nice… i hope BCOE is more well known by the time when i graduate
