So this is a pretty general question directed at UCR students, but hopefully those who were in UCR engineering? I want to know how good UCR Engineering is, like the teachers, how hard it is, general aspects of the program. I plan to major in electrical engineering, so itll be great if someone is an electrical engineer from UCR ;] Thanks.

[Welcome to Facebook](<a href=“Facebook - log in or sign up”>Facebook - log in or sign up)

Talk to him - he was my bear facts group leader. He’s a 4th (or third, can’t remember) year EE major.

Thank Jsol but… can you talk to him for me? or ask him to post something on this website? afterall i dont feel quite comfortable using my own facbeook to facebook message him… But thank you ;].

It’s your problem, lady. Jsol92 gave you guidance and you don’t take the initiatives…

enough said i guess.

i second that

Uhm wow… i get scolded by someone who doesn’t answer my question on UCR, cause I dont want to use facebook, something that i allows people to see my personal info?, to contact someone i dont know…I mean i would be glad to talk to them if it wasnt through facebook…Privacy and safety on the internet is pretty important…

haha very funny
if ur privacy settings are just right he wont be even be able to see ur photo if u message him. u dont need to add the person as a friend to message him.

@lucky… i wasnt speaking to you but since your doing the same as him… ill have you know that there are profile pics when u try and message him.

The problem is not the facebook, but rather how little initiative you are willing to take to know something.

jrgirl,i can clearly see that u were definitely freaked out by chris hansen’s show.

I would like to point out a few things here:

1) UCRUCR, there is no need to be blunt and harsh.

2) luckycharms949, don’t be an instigator and make the matter worse.

3) It is WorriedJrGirl’s decision whether to take the initiative to have her concerns answered. And if she decides to be passive then so be it, we do not need to make her feel guilty on the internet.

4) WorriedJrGirl, as a prospective higher education student could you possibly pay a little more attention to grammar? It tarnishes the image of UCR and reaffirms the negative comments regarding UCR when UCR students can not even formulate a proper sentence on a forum, which prospective students look for guidance to their future college decisions.

5) WorriedJrGirl, you can not be that passive and expect people to spoon-feed you the answers to your questions. If you really want to have your concerns addressed then you should take the initiative to talk to students/faculty members, and do some research.

Edit: As far as I know, the university’s engineering and science programs are fairly good. It may not be the best in the nation or as recognized as some other institutions, but it is above average nonetheless. If you want to put it into a ranking perspective, UCR’s engineering program is ranked 65/351 universities in the United States (it is better than ~82% of the universities).

Thank darkprince for answering my question instead of just doing what lucky did… I did not realize that i had to type out replies and posts in perfect English. Honestly, did you not understand my post because of my grammar or spelling errors? I did not realize that this site was so formal that i had to write as though i was in my ap english class or taking my ap english test. My ability to “formulate a propers sentence on a forum” is just fine, by the way. I can type just fun, but it is more about whether or not i want to. I can type saying “idk why u guys are bashing on weird things”, or i can say I don’t know why Lucky likes to comment without answering the OP’s question. So here is a lesson for you darkprince, do not assume people are stupid based on how they write something when they are in a rush, this is a forum, not a highschool ap english class.

WorriedJrGirl, I think you are being too defensive. Never once did I doubt your intelligence nor did I assume that you were stupid. Fortunately, I understood the majority of the content in your post. If you have the time to type every word out in its entirety and place punctuations then you should have the time to ensure that you are using correct tenses. I am not expecting nor am I requesting you to not commit any grammar mistakes, but please do pay attention to your grammar mistakes (ie. word tenses). Being conscious of your grammar and punctuation is a good habit to adopt, and will help you succeed in the academia; I’ve had professors who told me that some of their freshmen students turned in papers with internet language (ie. “u” instead of “you” and “da” instead of “the”). Although this platform of discussion may be informal, it does not justify the improper use of English, do not let that be an excuse. Please do not think I am trying to single you out, this advice is applicable to many other individuals as well. For all those who are reading this post and thinking “this guy does not have a perfect grasp of the English language, he probably makes grammar mistakes just like me,” you are correct; I do commit grammar mistakes, but I try not to.

PS: You typed “fun” instead of “fine” and forgot to capitalize some of your "i"s. ;)

Thank you, DarkPrince.

Could you please tell the entire internet this?

I agree with you too DarkPrince. Very well said.

WorriedJrGirl:
Just to send you also a message. What everyone has said, don’t expect BCOE to baby you. The people who work within BCOE are willing to help you to succeed but you will have to take the first steps to get any help. If I were you, I would contact who was suggested just with a short message of your situation. It’s clear he’s a UCR student because of the shirts, he is working for UCR by being a leader for orientation. But I do understand your concern.
As for electrical engineering, it’s not easy by all means. I haven’t taken any electrical engineering courses yet, but from what I’ve heard it’s challenging and the courses in general you have to take, for all engineering majors, can be challenging.

“Jsol92 gave you guidance and you don’t take the initiatives…” is an example of mixed tense. “Jsol92 gave you guidance and you didn’t take the initiative…”

“and make the matter worse” would usually be “and make matters worse”

“which prospective students look for guidance to their future college decisions.”
Better:
“to which prospective students look for guidance in their future college decisions.”

“in the academia” should be “in academia”. Why you follow with a semicolon instead of a simple period is a mystery. But I’m open; semicolon usage is a mystery to me anyway.

“it’s not easy by all means” in this context would usually be “it’s not easy by any means”.

With such horrible mangling of the English language, why criticize WorriedJrGirl and let everyone else off the hook?

@DarkPrince. Thanks for pointing out my “oh so horrible grammar mistakes”!!!. Its a post, not a test. If this were a test where I was being graded by my teachers, of course i would capitalize my "i"s. But of course ITS NOT!!! I mean really Darkprince? Did you read my “i” differently from “I”. I’m pretty sure they refer to the same person, me, and you can understand what I’m saying. For the fun and fine mix up well sorry, but like you said people make mistakes even you who picked me out of the billions of people on this site to comment on my grammar. Also, you made me defensive, because honestly, you made me sound like some dumb person who can’t form a a coherent sentence. Basically saying, “you can’t type on a forum! how do you expect to make it into any college or University”. Sorry to not please you, but I’m not like you I feel i should not have to constantly correct my typing, as long as people understand what i am trying to convey. On the bright side, i’m not writing “hi people im like so confused like why are people commenting on things that really dont matter? like whats up with people on this forum, like omg!” <----- I’ll never type like that, on forums especially because its disrespectful, to my friends maybe, but not with so many likes. Next time Darkprince, focus! and dont inadvertently insult people.

@And thanks Consider, I hope darkprince answers your question for me. I’d also like to know why he points out my errors but not others?

This is what happens when nerds get in arguments.

To the subject…

You will be applying to more than one UC, I trust. UCR would be a good backup, if nothing else. UCR has a 5 year BS/MS program for EE. Other UC’s have similar programs.

since when was this forum an english class?
