Engineers - What schools did you wish you had considered when you applied?

Well the title is pretty self-explanatory.

So what colleges do you wish you considered back when you applied?

(Mechanical and Chemical Engineers preferred ;) )

I'm not an engineer, but I have engineering friends at Lehigh who absolutely love it.

I wish I had looked at U Maryland College Park.

And, I considered the following for electrical:
Cornell
MIT
Caltech
Columbia
Penn
Michigan
Illinois
Berkeley
Stanford
Rice
U Rochester
Carnegie Mellon

I have no qualms with my decision to attend Berkeley. In-state tuition and the prestige of the program for me were tough to beat.

I'd have considered the following:

Stanford
MIT
CalTech
...no brainers there

Michigan
UT-Austin
Rice

I wish I'd looked at Rice and Cooper Union. I'm extremely glad I did look at MIT, Harvey Mudd, and Olin.

I also looked at Northwestern.

Georgia Institute of Technology

I don't think it is so much "what schools do you wish you had considered" but "what factors do you wish you had known to consider" that is important here.

My suggestions would be the presence of a strong internship or coop program, who recruits on campus, availability/willingness of alums to give advice and bring a few undergrads onboard, and the availability of alternative majors if you discover engineering isn't right for you (as 1/2 to 2/3 do nationally prior to graduating)

I think Northeastern is underrated. It has an amazing co-op program, and is getting more and more selective.
