Hi there, for the past few months ive really been thinking about applying for a student visa in London and moving to LA or NY to study film. It seems simple enough if you give it a good amount of time but just like to get some info from people tha have actually done this?

Do you need to find a firm Uni in US before applying for the visa or does this happen down the application road?
Also, are all international students give some sort of grant to help with there fees?

thanks

In order to get a student visa you have to be admitted to a university which will then send you the appropriate forms.

Some colleges give need-based aid to international students, some give merit-based aid and some don't give any aid at all. Anyway, the pool of international students applying for financial aid is very competitive! :(

thanks.

Well im going to start applying for 2008 so at least il be starting early

you mean you plan to enroll in 2008? Then you're not THAT early since you probably have to take standardized tests before january...

Which colleges are you looking at?

CSLA is the main one im looking at but i called them up and they said to use the online application in November if i want to enroll for 2008 september.

Yes, but don't you have to take standardized tests, write essays, send transcripts and recs, arrange an interview, etc. ?

You'll be VERY lucky to get money from a US college as an international undergraduate.
