I was not feeling well on the day of my placement exam and i could not focus on my passages. I did not get up and leave only because I knew i was busy on the other placement exam days. Recently I found out that I had been placed in English 100 Basic Composition. I was wondering if taking it will make my transcript look bad. Honestly, I know I could have been placed into expository writing but due to my condition I was unable to. What is English 100 Basic Comp like? What kind of students usually take it?

One more question to anyone~ Can someone explain how the english system works at RU-SAS? is it mandatory to take an english? and for how long?

THank you-

It really depends on what major and school you are in. For example, i believe school of arts and sciences have to make multiple writing intensive courses so it would mean you would be a semester behind.

Basic comp is one level under expository writing where you learn the same thing except expos is more in depth and more page length.

If you want to go to expos, the professor on the first day gives an assignment where you write an in class essay to see what level of writing you are in. He/She can then move you up to expos if they believe you are at expos level.

thank you so much! I think the best choice for me is to do well on that in class essay…I would really not wish to be a semester behind.
