So, ive been considering a double major of English and Art History. English mainly because I love to read, write, and just the language in general and Art History because I have always been drawn to art and the lifetimes before it for as long as I can remember. I want to know if these are too much put together? As in if I would pursue them at the same time would they be overwhelming and would I also be able to find work once I graduate college? In reality, im not much familiar with what I would be exposed to and learn during my college English classes and less even in Art History.
I’m thinking about majoring in English. Its interesting and would look good on a CV since it is so all encompassing.
Surely you can take the courses first and then decide your major after? You could decide its your favourite thing in the world, or there may be something else itching at ya to try.
I’m either gonna do a theatre major (not as respected I guess) or english.

I will be honest, the career prospects aren’t good. Of course, an English Major is far from “useless”, but to be brutally honest, it isn’t as competitive when it comes to money and prospects.
Like the majority of undergraduates you are asking the wrong question. But you question also brings up something else…the failure of academic advising on college campuses. If you look at the 3 jobs listed above you should be getting a sense of the lack of critical/creative thinking, You have to engage a completely different type of thinking if you want to open up the hidden job market. So first questions…if you are attending college …what college? and what hidden assets are around you>
