Any current students at NYU or others who feel they have a grasp on the topic:

I've been accepted to NYU LSP/CAS, and I plan to major in English with minors in creative writing and business. I've heard a lot of good things about NYU's GRADUATE creative writing program, but nothing of its undergrad (same goes for English). This lack of information and their disorganized website (as well as bad reviews from students on certain other websites) makes me wonder whether I should rethink NYU. I don't want to be in almost $140,000 worth of debt without an education/experience to dig myself out with. I've also been accepted to Bucknell and Fordham, and waitlisted at Johns Hopkins for writing seminars/English. Any information on NYU's undergrad English/creative writing department (or any of the other schools.. although I've heard Johns Hopkins is fantastic in both) would be much appreciated, along with any other advice!

Well, I got into Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins but I am doing English at CAS instead. I just like the atmosphere better at NYU, I am not sure it’s what I want to do, and they gave me more money… sooo…

Also, if you are not taken off the waitlist at JHU, realize that you can do creative writing wherever you go. Some of the best writers never recieved formalized training. Moreso, some argue that institutionalized writing education ruins a writers voice. Can you tell I thought a lot about this? haha

Oh–! Sorry for the triple post, but both NYU and JHU’s undergrad English Departments are among the best in the country. Both are definately in the top 10. If you want to come out of the school with a creative writing degree though, you will need to enroll in either Tisch or Gallatin.
