English/Humanities major at UCSD?

I was wondering if some undergrads or even grads could tell me about being a humanities major at UCSD. I've heard that the Political Science program is good and some similar things about So/An majors as well, but if you were to major in something like English Lit or History or that kind of thing, would it be a lot harder for you to go to a good grad school in/out of California?

I mean I understand that it is only undergrad, but the amount of importance people place on the whole undergrad thing is so extremely different person-to-person that it confuses me; there are people who say that for an undergrad education, you should go wherever is the cheapest and convenient for you, that you should just take the right classes and good grades, and then go to that really great grad school.

The quality of your undergraduate education DOES matter.

........bump

well of course it matters, but to a degree. go where you want to go. i just talked to advisors from the history and anthro dept and was very impressed with research opportunities, programs, and all that. :)

You're right, political science here is very impressive.
