English programs with nonfiction writing tracks/concentrations

I'm currently a sophomore just beginning my college search. I really like to write, and I write a lot of nonfiction- school newspaper articles, reviews of media, personal essays, and essays on other topics I enjoy. I'm considering majoring in journalism, but it seems like not that many colleges offer this for undergrads. Does anyone know of any colleges offering nonfiction writing emphasis in their English programs?
(If it's important: I have a 3.8 GPA at a nationally ranked private school, have taken 1 AP with a score of 4 and am taking 2 more this year, and took the SAT this fall and got a 2120 with minor preparation.)

There are many universities that offer a journalism major at the undergrad level. Smaller colleges are less likely to offer this major.

Another option is a creative writing major (with a creative nonfiction or literary nonfiction track), usually within an English Department. Some schools offer a major in professional writing, though this tends to focus on business and technical writing.

There are a ton of places that offer journalism, and a lot of great ones too.

Would you prefer to major in journalism? If so, don’t major in English if you don’t want to.

I have looked into journalism schools, but most of the best ones are state schools that seem too big, too party-focused, and too pre-professional for me. (This is just my personal opinion- I have nothing against people who attend these schools.) Creative/literary nonfiction would be good, though.

Look at schools with creative writing majors because they often have “concentrations” where you can choose fiction, nonfiction and poetry. What state do you want to be in? Ithaca college has a writing major with a nonfiction emphasis, MIT does too which is interesting, University of Redlands, Columbia University, Northwestern University and Vanderbilt are some of the colleges that offer nonfiction concentrations or at least courses. Just look up “creative writing majors” and then see the requirements or offered courses. As far as journalism goes… Emerson has a journalism major. I don’t know much more about journalism majors though. You should use the collegeboard’s college search tool to find other schools though.

Why not look for a school with small classes and frequent writing assignments throughout the entire undergraduate program?

Maybe take a look at some liberal art schools?

Many programs won’t use the title “journalism” or “creative nonfiction” but will offer those programs.

Take a look at Bard.
