Enough with the speculation about Emma Watson

I hate to contribute to it all, but can we please put this to rest?

[The Brown Daily Herald - ‘Harry Potter’ star Watson to go from Hogwarts to College Hill](http://www.browndailyherald.com/harry-potter-star-watson-to-go-from-hogwarts-to-college-hill-1.1775433)

Oh jeez, you beat me to it. It’s a nice article.

I particularly liked this paragraph:

Surprise surprise, my favorite as well.

I liked the article on tours in the BDH as well-- as a guide, that stuff really gets to me as well, though I bet that particular student would view me as being as bad as the rest.

Yeesh. It’s not like it REALLY matters where Em is going.
don’t get me wrong, i’m a fan but honestly…it’s getting old.

I’ve asked this in another thread but do you guys think this will make it way harder to get into Brown next year? As in, probably a million more people will apply?

No it will not. Most people who’ll apply to Brown will have thought about applying long before she broke news about attending. Those random fools who’re going to rush in applications to Brown merely with some fantasy that something will happen between them and Em are probably not very bright or committed anyway.

So stop worrying. It’s pretty much like wondering if the Obama presidency will make Columbia harder to get into or if the Clinton years meant tougher rates for Yale Law. All of these schools have high admissions standards that aren’t going to be significantly swayed by big-name figures associating and disassociating with them.

Am I the only one who read that article title and thought she was going on BET’s “College Hill?”

@ Plattsburgh: You’re not the only one.

hurray! Hermoine’s going to Brown! i wanna see some magic

Maybe she will start teaching how to make love potions :D

Brown will definitely become harder to get in next year.

um, no. most of the people who are applying just because emma’s there have like…kinda bad scores and ECs, no offense. so if you’ve wanted brown since freshman year and you’ve worked your butt off, the additional applicants shouldn’t be threatening.

Why would anyone apply to a school just because Emma Watson, or any person for that matter, is attending? I hope people aren’t that…weird.

^
yellowismellow and PlattsburghLoser,

Most HP fans are in the 16-19 age range. So I would say the app # will definitely go up for class of '14 and '15. Also, a lot of my IB friends are serious HP fans; So I think “kinda bad scores and ECs” is not a true statement. :)

I dunno, I feel like this WILL make it harder. Like, even if the same amount of people apply, I can’t help but feel like more people will accept an offer of admission from Brown knowing that Emma Watson’s going there. And balls I’m a transfer and that would make it much worse for me in particular.

Then those HP fans are stupid.

Had I known, I might have chosen Brown. Hmm… maybe not.
And while an increase in the number of applicants is foreseeable, the majority of those “additional” applicants from the U.S. are, as WantsBrown points out, not fit for Brown. It may affect international students though.
