I have already enrolled and sent in my deposit for a school, but UC application decisions still have not come out. Would it be okay if I kept in my application, completed supplements, etc. to see where I get in, or will this interfere in any way with the college that I have enrolled at? Thank you.
You have not enrolled anywhere. You have accepted an admission offer. Assuming you were not accepted in the ED round you would just notify the college that you will not be attending if you are eventually admitted to a UC. . You will likely lose your deposit.
I received the offer in December, and I confirmed that I expect to be attending and I payed almost three hundred dollars as a deposit. To confirm, this is still not an enrollment?
You are not enrolled until you register for classes in September or whenever.
If you have been accepted in the ED round that will be an ethical problem for you.
I don’t believe that the decision is binding - at least, the language in the letter did not indicate it
Did you apply Early Decision, Early Action, or Rolling Admission?
To apply Early Decision, you would have had to sign a formal agreement to enroll (provided the financial aid worked out and there were no surprising unexpected circumstances), your parents would have had to sign that they agreed to this, and your counselor would have had to sign off as well. Yes you could decide not to attend, but the steps to break the ED agreement (especially after depositing) would be messy.
If you applied Early Action or Rolling Admission, then you didn’t make any formal agreement to enroll if admitted. Your deposit is holding your space there. If you are admitted elsewhere, you can change your mind and choose the other place. But you have to let the first place know that you have changed your mind and won’t be coming. You might lose your deposit.
You can still change your mind until May 1, and even after that if admitted from the wait list elsewhere. By May 1, you should commit only to one school.
What is the school you enrolled in?
