Good evening CC community,

I have a question.
If you put a deposit in a certain university - let's call it A - and then you decided that you want to go to another institution - let's call it B - Can you tell A that you no longer want to go to their institution and go to B? Or does putting the deposit money at one institution mean one end that you choose A then you stick to A?

Thank you guys!
Have a wonderful day and spectacular new year!

You can change your mind.

You should not have deposits at more than one place simultaneously except for the day or two of overlap that would happen if you wait to make certain that B has received your money before withdrawing your commitment to A.

Please be aware that A may keep your deposit money.

You also need to know that if you were admitted to A by Early Decision, B might not accept your deposit because it has a policy of respecting ED offers. In that case, you would either need to attend A, not attend anywhere at all in fall 2014, or find an institution C that would admit you even though you had originally committed to A after an ED acceptance.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
you’re a life saver
I’m actually going to be a first time freshman in the spring of 2014, but the financial aid at B is not complete yet! So it’s a little bit confusing.
Again thank you very much.
I wish you a great year!!!
