enthusiasm

would it hurt my app it i talked about how much i love nd. My stats are similar to most people who post on here but i don't really have any fantastic hooks. I know admissions want to see enthusiasim for nd but im afraid that if i talked about it directly it might seem immature.

in my application essay, i put in a little part about how ND was my dream school. don't go overboard though, because an admissions counselor said that they don't like the "rudy" stories or torn ACL stories cause they get so many of those. anyway, i was accepted, so i hope that helps!

thanks, ill try to keep it to a min

I agree with Irishgirl; it is okay to talk about it some but I would try to write an essay that will make you stand out. If yours is just like everyone elses' then it will not do you any good.

Hey guys.. im going to be a soph at ND next year. I hardly talked about my enthusiasm for ND in my essays.. cause it wasnt my first choice.. but i still got in.. its not the MOST important thing... make sure your essay talks about YOU and why YOU are special enough to get in.. thats really important too.

You definately have to make yourself stand out in your essay and make them understand why they should select you. ND was actually my second choice when transferring as well (I wasn't in my right mind when applying the second time, but I made the right choice in the end) so I wasn't as enthusiastic as I was the first time. Yet, I want to stress the fact that ND does look at essays more than a lot of other schools, so make them good...just don't say what everyone else says. They have to read over 10,000 of these, imagine how much it sucks to hear "ND is my dream school....rudy is the best....etc." Stand out and be yourself!
