What’s up everyone,
I was wondering how schools (specifically Georgetown) look at entire testing history? Here’s my situation.
SAT I: Old Sat (Freshman Year for CTY): 1780
New Sat (March 2016): 1470
New Sat (May 2016): 1490
*in case you didn’t know, i’m not a fan of the SAT, i prefer the ACT much more
ACT: Feb 2016: C: 33 (E 35, M 36, R 33 S 27)
April 2016: C 35 (E 35 M 34 R 35 S 34)
SAT II: Georgetown requires 3. I’ve taken 5.
Math 790, Physics 770, Bio 720 Math I 720 Chem 720
Ok, so here are my questions.
1.) Will Georgetown care about the 1780 freshman year
2.) Will all my other scores take away from the 35? I studied for the ACT like crazy, but the rest of my scores average to a 33. Would this take away from the value of the 35?
3.) Are 720 Subject Tests bad for Georgetown? Will they take into consideration my 790/770?
Thanks, your advice would be most helpful
1/ No
2/ No
3a/ No
3b/ Yes
For the Subject Tests, they’ll consider the 3 best, so the 790/770 and either bio or chem (the Math 1 is duplicative, so that won’t be considered).
You are asking people who are not on the AdComm to read tea leaves, so don’t expect to get much useful feedback (including from me!).
Georgetown wants to know your whole testing history b/c they are looking at you as a whole. They ‘care’ about all of it, but your 35 is not a magic bullet and the 1780 from grade 9 is not a suicide pellet. They will look at your personal bits (essays, LoRs), your courseload and marks, your ECs and your test scores and see how all the parts fit together in a narrative arc. From what I have heard (anecdotal, mostly from listening to endless adcomm speeches and some social one-on-one conversations), it is not usually a hairsplitting difference in scores (eg, 33 v 35) that decides whether a given student is in or out.
I stand corrected. @skieurope’s response is useful
