I was wondering if there were any entrance exams when transferring to gs? Like a writing or math exam that is not related to the gsae, but for class placement. I have already taken plenty of math and writing courses, just wanted to check if they still test you on it so that I can be prepared.

There are a few, from what I understand only one of them is necessary (Quantitative Reasoning if you scored less than 600 on the SAT’s).

I’ve also heard you can take these during orientation on August 29th.

when i spoke to the econ department they said that with pre-calculus (im taking that right now) i should be able to enroll into calc 1 in the fall.

maybe the test is for those who’ve completed the requirement (are not seeking further mathematics) and they want to make sure thats the case.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Looks like I have to study again… Is there any recommended books, websites, etc I can go to for some of these, I dont think I have ever taken a course in logic.

Yeah it sounds like if you score less than 600 and you’ve, in terms of previous coursework, completed the quantitative reasoning requirement of the core, they want to verify via a test. I dont think if you’re entering into a math heavy major (financial economics for example) you have to take it if you’re currently working on mathematics courses – u’d simply follow the track your on.

Don’t quote me though, but my speculation, to me, makes sense
