Entrepreneurship at UChicago

Are there any facilities/courses etc that would help ones growth as an entrepreneur at UChicago undergrad? I`ve heard for courses the closest you can get is economics, but UChicago economics is more theoretical and not hands on learning

There are special career in business programs where you can take up to 6 classes at Booth MBA during your undergraduate years. I think that is an incredible opportunity.

There are also several other options like the Chicago Innovation Exchange, UChicago Careers in Entrepreneurship, and Edge Entrepreneurship UChicago, to name a few.

The Polsky Center at Booth has now expanded to serve the whole university. It has a New Venture Challenge that is open to undergrads.

The school provided funding for an after graduation project for a bunch of CS students to develop an app on Apple iPhone.

Probably one of the best schools for undergraduate entrepreneurship (and for graduate for that matter). Tons of resources available (the student organization EDGE has tons of funding). If you are an undergrad looking to start a company, it is pretty easy to get approx 1-2k in initial seed money, easy to get in touch with a lot of the local VC groups, they connect you with mentors from the TechStars accelerator, you can win 10k off the college new venture challenge, they will fund your flights to startup competitions, etc. The resources are pretty incredible.

Education wise, you can always take entrepreneurship courses at Booth. Also, a lot of the teams competing for the 100k at the Booth New Venture Challenge ask for college students to join their team, especially if they write code.
