Hi all,
I’m new here so hope this is the right place to ask. My daughter is a future fall 2018 freshman and we’re now applying to a number of schools (total of 10 now), some of which are in the midwest (we live in the south). Of those schools, we’ve applied to:
University of Iowa–Tippie School
University of Missouri-Trulaske School
Indiana University-Kelley School
University of Tennessee-Haslam School
Miami University (Ohio)-Farmer School
Depending on the source, I know that each of these schools is highly rated (though it appears IU and Miami seem to hold the most acclaim) in their schools of business. Daughter is really wanting the “full college experience”, including exposure to sports, greek life, and school spirit. She’s also a “city girl”, so having some access to the big city would not be a bad thing at all.
She’s already been directly admitted to Iowa, and awaiting to hear back from the others. My thought is that if she’s NOT a direct admit at IU, it appears far too competitive as a pre-business major later getting accepted. Not sure about the others. Focus is not just on the school of business BUT ALSO the school’s relationship with the local businesses. Some of these schools have clinics and abilities to work with local entrepreneurs in learning “hands-on” how to start up businesses. Mizzou and Tennessee each have been highly ranked in that regard.
Any feedback welcome, including the “vibe” (happy, unhappy, etc.). Weather is not a problem. Living in the south, we’re looking to get out of the heat!
Thanks in advance.
