Environment

Which major would be best for me If i wish to find a job in helping the environment? Which one would end up paying more as well. environmental resource mangement or environmental systems engineering?

ERM is also known as environmental science, and is much to be preferred in my opinion to environmental policy. but as to whether or not ERM is to be preferred to ESE, I think that’s a decision you make on how much you like engineering, physics, and math higher than Calculus because you’ll be doing a lot of basic engineering, projects, and teamwork in ESE. Baccalaureate engineers almost always make more than science baccalaureates.

One of the best environmentalists I know is a chemical engineer, and he on a daily basis does as much environmental engineering as anyone I know. If I were to encourage someone interested in the environment AND engineering, I would encourage them to pursue chemE or bioE (both with some research, internships, or certificate in enviro) just to diversify their opportunities after graduation. People who enter environmental “studies” of any kind frequently find themselves working for industry in addition to the environment. Some are happy in those industry positions, and some are not.
