Environmental Engineering

So, I want to ask you guys what you think of environmental engineering. My parents are telling me about going into this as a major for college, and I am actually intrigued. However, My info is limited, and I want to know imput from other people. Green tech is soaring, and people are saying this is a good major to get into. The major is kind of vague and relatively unheard of.

EnvE deals with things like water/wastewater treatment, air pollution control, ecosystem quality, or really any environmental quality or pollution issue. Traditionally the degree is lumped into the civil engineering departments of colleges, but there are schools that offer an EnvE degree on its own. If you’re serious about it, I’d look for a school with a pure EnvE program or perhaps a ChemE undergrad/EnvE grad degree. This would give you a more rigorous scientific and technical background.

A professor who are now in CE originally had chemical engineering in BE and ME level. She then received her PhD in CE. Her interest, however, relates to air pollutions, and she said her background in chemE helped her a lot.

Just my 2 cents.
