EOP Summer Program

So I was looking through the list of stuff we will need for the summer program and saw that phones are not allowed during the 5 weeks. Does anyone know how far this rule extends and what the penalty for having a phone is? It’s completely understandable that phones aren’t allowed in class or during study hours but no phones period seems like a bit much. @sbuadmissions

Hey there. The phone rule is strictly enforced. If you are caught with one you will get a warning and will have to give it up for the rest of the 5 weeks. If you get 3 or more warnings (anything else included) you have a high chance of getting kicked out of the program, and revoking your admission to the school. To be honest, not having a phone is a good thing as you cannot afford to be distracted in the 5 week program. It is very rigorous and 6 credits factor into your GPA. You definitely want to go for that 4.0 to start the fall semester with. I know I wish I did. Anyway, I’m going to be a TA (Teacher Assistant) for the EOP summer program this summer, so if you or anyone else have any general Stony Brook or EOP questions feel free to ask.
