EOP- Educational Opportunity Programs

Link to the NYS Higher Education Opportunity Program

Barnard has an HEOP Program, NYU Has one, Columbia also has one. You can check out their websites for more information. If you do a search on the Columbia site you can find more detailed information about HEOP

Higher Education Opportunity Program

Barnard participates in the New York State Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), which offers support services to meet the needs of students who are economically disadvantaged. Students receive counseling and tutoring. Students admitted to the program must attend a six-week summer program preceding their first year. To be eligible for the program, students must meet all of the following criteria:
Be a New York State resident for a minimum of 12 months prior to college matriculation.
Be a high school graduate by June 2004 and under 21 years of age.
Have an SAT I verbal score of 620 or below or an ACT I English subscore of 24 or below.
Have a high school average of 85 or above
Admission to HEOP at Barnard College is competitive and includes consideration of students' academic records, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, and a required interview with a HEOP staff member.

Sybbie has given you some very good EOP info for NY and for Barnard College. As the parameters and situations can differ if you are looking at other schools and states, you need to google "EOP"; and the specific school you are researching. California does things quite differently from NY, for instance, and you do not state where you are from. Also within CA, schools can differ.

I think she asked about TAP ( NYS Tutition Aid Plan) before also, that is why I am assuming she is from NY

... And her location says New York, NY. ^^

You've been given excellent advice, sexy123. If you're interested in other school systems, ask more specifically and I'm sure someone'll be able to help.
