ERC Housing

alright, thanks for clarifying!

Do they give upperclassmen priority in apartment housing? I think someone told me that they will let upperclassmen get apartments before they let freshmen get them.

Could someone “chance” me for an April 4 submit date: likeliness of a single, double, etc. Thanks!

that’s for on campus apartments right? as freshmen, we should be applying for residence halls so i don’t think those 2 would coincide.

Yeah usually the apartment housing is so full that some sophomores have to take singles in the residence halls in all-freshmen suites. ERC was simply not built for so many people. So yeah, freshmen get apartments in VERY rare circumstances in ERC.

April 4 = decent, IMO - before admit day, but there are still 2 weeks before you of people who already applied. So… decent.

Say I requested a double. What are my chances of getting that? Strong, good, fair, slim?

Fair-Good. Where is everyone else?! Surely I can’t be the only ERC person on here who has an opinion.

You might want to call the housing office… they get bombarded with calls and might not help, but whatever. There is always the chance that you’ll talk to someone really nice who can tell you your chances.

i emailed them last week but haven’t gotten a reply. i asked them if i submitted my housing app on 3/29, would i have a good chance of getting a double? i actually put single down i think that’s more popular than a double…is a triple that bad in ERC? i think i would actually like the whole roommate experience my first year but i prefer a double.

3/29 is pretty good. Triples are bad in ERC - they are just converted doubles, so they’re absolutely tiny compared to some of the other colleges’ triples (ie Revelle’s).

so i finally got a response to my question, but it didn’t seem to help much: “If you have met all of the housing deadlines, you are guaranteed a place to live,
unfortunately we cannot guarantee you residence in ERC or in a double. Housing
assignments will be sent out at the end of August. Have a great summer!” i know that 3/29 definitely met the “housing deadlines”, so any other input on whether i should take a chance and put down a double as my preference?

^Honestly, since you turned in your housing app pretty early, I feel like your chances of getting a double in ERC are decent. No guarantees though. I have no idea what goes on the minds of the housing people.

yeah seriously haha just the whole being sent to revelle thing is a bit scary! thanks though.

Can someone please describe how many sinks, shower stalls, toilets, etc. there are in ERC residence halls? The layout on the Housing website is confusing and disagrees with what someone in ERC told me. I heard there’s a kitchenette? Is there a fridge, stovetop, microwave, oven?

In each ERC suite (shared by roughly 12-15 people) there are 4 sinks, 3 shower stalls (one is handicapped) and 3 toilets. There is a kitchenette in the bottom of each residence hall with a stovetop and an oven and a sink, that’s it. No fridge, no microwave.
