Error: deadline has passed :(

When I try to add a college to my common application list, an error appears that says that the "Deadline has already passed."

I've added Chicago (back in June), but Penn, Stanford, and a plethora of other colleges have the error status.

If I can't add colleges until a later date, can someone tell me how to access the common application supplement for different colleges now? I was told that most colleges' supplements come out on July 1st.

Thanks :D

I can’t even add UChi…

boh, maybe it was last year’s application.

But basically there’s a why chicago question, and then it asks you to list a bunch of your favorite books. Then there’s 5 extended essays questions which I’m too lazy to list down.

And I just went to the Penn online website, and I clickedon the 2010-2011 supplement, and basically it re-routed me back to the website.

The Common Application for the 2010-2011 application cycle will not be released until August 1. Any schools that you have added to the CA during the last application cycle will no longer be valid and you will have to re-register on the Common App site after August 1 and start again. Though school-specific supplements that are released before August 1 will be available on the individual school’s websites, you will not be able to access them via the Common App until August 1.

yes i understand that, but does anyone know which top-50 schools have applications online right now?

I know from my experience (based on 4 colleges/ and I’m interested in 15 at the moment)
Chicago- common application supplement out on the common app website
Michigan- application isn’t common app; application available online.
Penn State- applications is out; application not CA
Penn- not out; supplement should be available on July 1st, but it’s not out.

Does anyone know the current status for Yale, Princeton, MIT, Brown, Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, Virginia, etc. etc.

Sorry for the caps in the response, I don’t know how to quote on CC.

Chicago- common application supplement out on the common app website - THIS IS NOT FOR THIS YEAR’S APPLICATION. THE 2010-2011 SUPPLEMENT QUESTIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE U of C ADMISSIONS WEBSITE
Michigan- application isn’t common app; application available online.-THIS YEAR MICHIGAN IS ON THE COMMON APP. MICHIGAN SUPPLEMENT QUESTIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE MICHIGAN WEBSITE
Penn State- applications is out; application not CA
Penn- not out; supplement should be available on July 1st, but it’s not out.-PENN IS ON THE COMMON APP, WILL BE AVAILABLE AUGUST 1.

Thanks for keeping this thread alive, and it is good to know that the common application website is essentially useless until August 1st. I’ll stay away until then. I also see that Michigan now has the common application. Do they no longer have rolling admissions?

What I meant for Penn is that I have gone to the Penn Website, and it says explicitly that the common application is available on July 1st. When I click on the link, it re-routes back to the original page.

@runnersmom: do you know of any schools whose supplement is already posted on the school website? I can only find information of 6 schools at the moment.

Michigan has revised its application deadlines, but will still start reviewing applications as soon as they are complete and act on them. So, its like rolling, but they also guarantee that if your application is in, and complete, by November 1 you will have a decision by the 23rd of December (I think that’s the date). It is still to your advantage to have your completed application in as early in the admissions cycle as possible.

Apparently the Penn Supplement (not the CA itself) will be available on the Penn Admissions website on July 15.

As for the other schools on your list, just go to the school’s admissions website and look for the “Apply” link. If they provide the supplement on their website, or have their own application, you will likely find it there.
