Hey Everyone,

I applied ED to Stern and got in. One day later I got an EA acceptance to Georgetown and then one to Notre Dame. Do they ever let you break the agreement?

Hey Everyone,

I applied ED to Stern and got in. One day later I got an EA acceptance to Georgetown and then one to Notre Dame. Do they ever let you break the agreement?

NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At NYU in particular, if you try to get out of the ED contract, they'll come to your house and kill you. They'd rather see you dead than attending another college.

But seriously, no. You've applied ED, you're stuck at Stern.

No you cant. Just be happy that you got three acceptances and not three rejections. And plus, nyu stern is better than both gtown and ND.

I've heard that ED agreements can be broken if you are unable to attend for financial reasons.

If finances were a problem, you shouldn't have applied ED in the first place. http://nyu.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2794011391/m/4611057242 It's true that you can break the agreement, but I personally think that unless there was a major, unexpected change in the applicant's financial or family situation, breaking an ED agreement shows a lack of adequate consideration on the part of the applicant.

You can, but say goodbye to any chance of attending NYU in the future.

And by the way, Congratulations on your 3 acceptances. I'm sure you deserved them.

Considering that you received your E.D. acceptance a month ago, your other apps should have been withdrawn long before now. Once you're accepted E.D., you must immediately withdraw any other apps you have out there, and that would include declining those offers of admission from Georgetown and Notre Dame. No, you cannot change your mind and accept an offer from another school, just because you got letters of acceptance. If you wanted to see how many letters of acceptance you would get, you shouldn't have applied E.D. If you haven't done so, you better withdraw your other apps and decline those offers immediately or you may find yourself with NO offers, my friend.

ya if stern wasn't your first choice you definitely shouldnt have applied ED. They started the ED program to seperate those that really wanted to attend from those that were sort of interested. And like those above me have said, stern is better than both of those schools, be happy and go to stern.

I find it hard to believe you applied to Georgetown EA along with Stern ED...Georgetown specifically requires you NOT to apply for EA if you are applying binding ED to ANY other school...I was planning on doing that and specifically called the admissions office to ask...so unless you cheated the system?

Either way...you're the one who made the decision to a binding program...so why would you not live up to it?
