The problem: I am increasingly drawn to my ap econ class.

Side-Question: When I applied ED did I commit to Steinhardt or NYU?

Main- Question: Lets say I am accepted ED- Can I apply RD to a different school in NYU?

or would you recommend that I withdraw my ED (Although this is something that I won’t do- simply because I already signed and turned in the forms- and I have to pay price for my thoughtless actions)

or would you recommend that I wait a year and try to transfer (but I have heard that it is basically impossible to transfer into Stern or Tisch)?

Thank you! And sorry- I just don’t know what to do :(
Please let me know if this is confusing… I am a little disoriented

@HelloColorClear
okay i thought so and thanks!

@NYUwouldbenice
3.8 (uw)
9 AP classes by graduation (10 AP tests)
+I don’t know if this matters to NYU (I know that northwestern really looks for this) but I have done several independent studies (art & psych)
School: public in top 100
Ranking: my school doesn’t really rank (only 1 & 2)
Essay & Short Response: great- very heartfelt
ECs: talented artist (although I did not apply ED for studio art- several awards, volunteer, tutor
Honors: ap scholar with distinction & NHS
ACT: 30 ( I may take it a second time but I don’t particularly want too)
Recs: great- the teachers I asked know me very well
I hope that is enough to chance me for stern…
And thanks!
BTW I looked at your chance me pls ED Steinhardt and I think you have a good chance
Good luck to the both of us! :]

You are contractually obligated to attend Steinhardt for a minimum of one academic year before you are eligible to transfer. If you are accepted ED to Steinhardt, you are bound to Steinhardt. You can’t reapply RD.

hm. i honestly dont know that much about you and stern or how they do things, but i think if i were you i would stick with ED to Steinhardt and try my best to transfer to Stern if im still really interested and drawn to business topics.

because 1). i think you have a better chance getting into Steinhardt, (and thus NYU so thats the first step) because of your stats, not that they are bad, just that they are more likely to get you into NYU first. Stern is really competitive, and since you said that you are just now becoming more interested in econ, i assume you dont have a really impressive resume relating to business like other stern applicants do (like owning their own online retail etc.)

2) to withdraw your app now and apply RD i feel like is too complicated and risky to do, and plus you paid the money and stuff

but i dont know, so i wouldnt listen to me too much but good luck nonetheless!!

p.s. i hope i get in too, but i just read this article about how colleges discriminate against asian students, which i mean i already knew but its very discouraging, and my stats are not at all perfect as most asian students’ are…so we will see.

Yeah I think that is what I am going to do
Btw I REALLY hope that NYU doesnt discriminate I am drawn to NYU because it is different. Their questions are different; they dont ask us about academics or independent studies BUT they ask us who we are. I love that even though NYU is a school they want there to be more to us then just grades and academics. SOO (sorry got off on a tangent there) if they discriminate, for me, it would go against everything that I think they represent.
Be sure to let me know how everything goes!
AND thank you sooo much!! I really mean that!
