Essay #3 On the AP Lit Exam

(The one that asks you to choose a book and write about it)

How much does it hurt to choose a book that doesn't really have "literary merit" and that the readers have likely never heard of? Is it better to write a bad essay about a book on the list or a good essay about a book that isn't?

Hopefully I won't need to choose, but just in case... :(

Why does it have to be either or? There’s no point in picking a book that has no “literay merit” since the whole point that it has to be AP level. Meanwhile, you have 3 more days until the test. If you honest to god don’t know any books, (which I highly doubt since you must’ve studied Shakespeare sometime in your life), choose a book on an AP book list and learn it now. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your grade either way.
