Hi, the mandatory essay for Penn and the Jerome Fisher essay seem like they are making me write the same thing over again.

5a. Describe the course of study and the unique characteristics of UPenn that most interest you. Why do these interests make you a good match for Penn?

Jerome Fisher

2a. Discuss your interest in management and technology. How might Penns joint-degree program in business and engineering help you to meet your goals?

For 5a, my “course of study” is management + tech, so it is basically the exact same essay!

I had the same dilemma. I ended up focusing on the "unique characteristics of UPenn" in the first essay, and the M&T program in my second. Although I ended up deffered from M&T, I think it worked well.

which one,
If you can't right enough about unique characteristics maybe do some more research on West Philadelphia or Benjamin Franklin
if you need more material on the Jerome Fisher Program write about what you want to do after graduation.

my essay 5a was almost "spiritual" in nature. it was more lofty and discussed why i fell in love with penn the minute i stepped foot on the campus. my m&t essay was much more straightforward, discussing my experience with technology and business and my passion for it. it worked well enough to get me in.

I'm doing the same thing as Wharton09. 5a more straightforward about classes and such and my M&T essay is more about a business experience I had and how that's made me want to pursue the program. meh :\ it sucks.

um do you think its not off topic if i wrote about just econ at wharton is the 1st penn "course of study" essay, and descussed MT's benefits in the additional essay?

In the 1st essay I said i really wanted to work in finance but i also had interest in engineering and wanted to take some, even as electives, if MT doesnt accept me.

no because wharton isn't econ (as for only business, I would write a little bit about engineering but not much... especially if wharton is your second choice)
btw this is from 2004
