Essay Edge?

Okay, I am so lost on how to even start to tackel my essay. It's driving me insane! So, i was wodnering if anyone has ever tried the essayedge.com thing? Is it considered cheating or is there something wrong with using it? I kinda just looked at it as asking a bunch of teachers to proof-read. If possible, can anyone give me their thoughts on the site?

This is YOUR essay and it is your only real chance to tell admissions who YOU are and why YOU belong at ND. I wouldn't say using essayedge.com is cheating, but I just view it as unneccesary. From what I can tell, the best ND essays are the unique ones, the ones that seem to have a life of their own if you know what I mean. Yes, it looks like essayedge just edits your essay (I think) but it just feels canned to me because they do it for tons of kids and give tons of kids the same advice. I just am afraid you will get the same advice, even if it is good, and it is going to look like a lot of other kids essays.

A good essay for ND is going to really be you on paper, you know? It is going to give them a glimpse of who you are, what you are about, and why you should be at Notre Dame. Because of that, I think your essay should be read by people you know because they can personalize their comments to you and may help you better express who you are. That is just something that I don't think essayedge can do, but perhaps I am mistaken.

I don't think it matters a whole bunch either way, but I just don't know why you would pay them when you can just talk with your teachers and recommenders and have them look over it. For what it is worth, that is what I am going to do this year with my graduate school applications, so I am putting my essay where my mouth is! Good luck and I hope that helps. Also, sorry for my mistaken first post which you may have gotten in your email.

I don't think it's cheating either, but I also think its better to ask your own teachers, parents, and friends to proofread your essay for you. They can make sure that it not only has a good topic and proper grammar, but that it also sounds like you.
