Essay: Expository or Narrative?

Is it better to have an essay drawing on a wide variety of sources (eg. books, movies, history, literature) or an essay on a personal experience?

I think that if I were to write an essay on a personal experience, my essay would be of higher quality and not as rushed. However, I heard that expository essays tend to score higher...is this true?

I did narrative for my January SAT and scored a 10. I'm aiming for an 11-12. Could those who scored 11/12 post and say what type of essay they wrote? And of what length. Thanks!

And good luck to all those taking the SAT tomorrow!

Evidence, evidence, EVIDENCE!

I drew 3 examples for one essay : Domestic evidence, literature, and historical evidence and a teacher who grades SAT essays gave me a 12 so, evidence from a lot of sources :D
