Can anyone give me some advice on how to write the two short answers and the long essay (especially this one). those questions are so hard to write about! Help anyone?

just do it. when i went to the campus visit, they implied that the essays really don't matter much. "no one has ever not been admitted just because of their essays, unless they were absolutely horrendous" is what they said.

I definitely hope so. I'm pretty stuck on the essays!

Im also having a HUGE problem with the essays. They are just so hard to answer and make it seem personal. Im going with the art and science but trying to take a unique approach. I tried doing the local concern but I couldnt write about how to solve it :|

Does anyone know if it matters if the essays are kind of long?
approximately 320 for short one and 600 for the long one.
those are just rough drafts, so if those things matter, I think I might be able to trim it down, but if it doesn't matter, I don't want to cut out some of the parts that I think are important.

Don't be too wordy. That should save you some words.

I can't see it being that big a deal though.

it's not that hard really... for me... i was so sick of the whole app process that I just wrote whatever that came to mind... you know... the typical stuff... just that I refined it abit and presented them in a not-so-predictable way and sent them in... got accepted within 6 weeks or so... that was for last year though

well, then can u give us some adivce on how u wrote ur essays ynos?

One of my short essays is looking like it will be about 300 words. I doubt it would create any problems, but if someone else suggests otherwise, I might be able to trim it down.

my short answers were both around 300 words and i got in with them

febrabbit:

Last year's app required two short essays (approx 250 words each) and a longer one (approx 500 words). My essays were all within the word limit and if you would like to have them, PM me. Actually, now that I have looked at my essays again, I think they are very ordinary. Oh well, good luck to you!

so the essay does not have to be a creative writing?

I revised all my essays and it looks fine but my long one was 380words long.
is it too short?
I couldn't find any relevent information for my international concern because I focused on one thing and I don't think it needs more information but if it's too short I could add more but I think it will be worse.
Should I write more???

Short is fine. Longer isn't necessarily better.

my long one is 627 words right now, but fits on a page with my name and question written at the top. i'm thinking they say 500 because that's usually about a page, so am i ok or will they definitely notice and get ticked?

i got it down to 570, but it's obviously still 70 words over the limit- am i ok?? or should i cut down more?

My short ones were over 300 words, but after that mine got considerably shorter and one of them is 270words and the other one is 230 words.
He said that the limit doesn't really matter and they set the limit just so that the essays aren't that long - like few pages
