<p>If the college explicitity says only one page, then one page...or else the second wont get read. If it just says 500-words, you can go a little bit over.</p>
<p>agree-S had a 500 word essay that his was 581. Admissions said that would be fine-they just don't want to see 4 pages when they ask for 500 words. Don't cut it anymore if you feel it will lose its substance.</p>

<p>You have to look at each colleges requirements to find this out. University of Chicago doesn't limit you at all (use your judgement), whereas, some do not want you to go over 500 at all.</p>
