essay mess up

i submitted my cornell app with a GRAVE mess up last wednesday

and it occured to me, after getting a cornell pin/id whatever, that i can create an account with cornell, withdraw my app for reasons of an incomplete app, then resubmit with a new common app account

i also plan to call cornell whenever the admissions office reopens and be like, I submitted via common app an essay i meant for anotehr common app school, so i had to withdraw to resubmit.

question: would that raise any red flags? (they wouldnt read my withdrawn app would they?)

thanks

just update ur essay; that's what im doing

how do you update your essay?

you revise it. Um, edit it. LOL

Your not going to get a pin until wayyy after the deadline, so withdrawing it online isnt something to consider. The best course of action is clearly to email the admissions office, then send a buisness sized envelope with your UPDATED essay and a cover letter explainign your mistake to the admissions office. Be sure to do this before the January 7th deadline. Hope this helps.

no but i did receive a pin (submitted thursday)

the cornell university office opens 8 am 1/3/06, and the new app deadline is 1/7/06. but i've been having trouble establishing a cornell account, as is the word on the discussion boards. is it possible to create an account over the phone when i call cornell on tuesday to withdraw my app?

and newyorker, what do you mean, simply 'edit' it? how can i do that if i already submitted?

yeah same here...Cornell or bust 8) ...but anyway..you can call the admissions office and talk to them. When i called and told them i had correctons on my common app and i had another rec the lady I called said to fax it or just to scan and email it to her personal email and she would take care of it. So take some action and quit being a sissy...call the place and see what to do. If youre scared..dont include your name at first and just state the situation.
Good Luck and thanks for the laugh:)

Don't actually tell them you wrote Columbia, just say there was an error and ask if they read both the original and the corrected essays.

Dear Office of Undergraduate admissions,

It has come to my attention that I have submitted an incorrect copy of my essay to Cornell University. I am attaching the correct essay along with this note (sent in a buisiness sized envelope asap). I am sorry for the inconvinence this has caused and hoping the admissions office will recognize this attached essay as the final copy and place it into my file. I have applied to the (school) at Cornell and my SSN is ........ my DOB is ............
