Do some research about a specific class that interests you. “I want to take so and so with Professor so and so because…”

Blaugrana, I think your ideas are just fine. No need to do research about specific faculty members.

Blaugrana, I agree with Dean J not to waste time looking up specific faculty members, but I do think you should look for at least one class you’re interested in. If the question asks
I believe it behooves you to answer it.

PS - behooves :D

@UVA a. you just said that he should research faculty b. those numbered points are how he plans to go about writing the essay prompt which is bolded

Yes, those 3 points are what I want about writing. The only problem is getting it to be interesting. ):

theman44, I actually said:
This is solely my opinion, but I do think that having a specific example of an class that you are interested in will help you.

So, I finally finished my essays! Hooray. Well, I still want to do some changes but I’m going to let them sit over the weekend that way I can better assess them and make the best changes possible. I followed your advice, UVaorBust, on writing about the courses that interested me and it was pretty fun reading the course descriptions. It just makes me all that more excited to hopefully get accepted!

Random, but did you guys give a title to each essay? Also… Does it come across as gimmicky if I quote Thomas Jefferson? This was the prompt:

What issue of local, national, or international significance concerns you? Why?

and I wrote mine on gay civil rights and quoted The Declaration of Independence. (all men are created equal, Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness)

Blaugrana, I have to advise you to read this link:

Congratulations on finishing your essays so early! That is truly fantastic.

I am a transfer applicant so I had the transfer prompts too

For the first one I tried to flow from what I want to teach, to why I want to teach, teaching/tutoring experience, to what kind of teacher I envision being.

For the second one I chose the Hawking essay and I sent a calculator into space.

I just hope it wasn’t too long. It was a page, but single spaced.
