is the word count on the essay really strict? my essay is 327 words, and it's supposed to cap at 300. I know on the common app it's okay if you go over a little, does anyone know if it's alright for UMD?

I’m keeping it safe and staying 300 and under, personally. 99% of the time you can reword things to get under the word limit anyway. If you really, really can’t, then they might let it slide. Assuming everything you write is relevant to the topic of your essay, of course.

I’d also like a clarification of this. So IS it a strict 300 word limit? Because I have 350 words or so and I really can’t cut it down.

If your over 320ish, your fluffing it and can cut it down. I think anything under 310 is good for them as long as it is relevant. Good luck.
