Essays about music

I am brainstorming for my essay and I know that my topic will be about music. I heard that music is one of the hardest topics to write about and I don't want it to sound cliched. Can anyone give me some suggestions?
Thanks

You play french horn? You could use that. It's perilous to play, but it's pretty worth it. Do you play in an orchestra? What does it feel like to be sitting back there doing nothing much for a while while most people in the audience watch the conductor or the jumpy principal second violinist or the violists playing laboriously into their knees, but then they hear something like the soul of the orchestra coming from some mysterious place in the back and it's you, YOU! What happens next? Or have you ever played Mahler 1 at the end when all 7 of you stand up?

Yes I play in an orchestra. However, I'm not sure if describing the atmosphere in an orchestra from my point of view would be original. I know that many people who apply vivdly portray what it is like to play their instrument or some particular piece. So if I write something along these lines, would it impact the admission officers?

Was there ever some incident or event that happened in your orchestra or over the course of your musical career that was especially significant or memorable for you? If so, perhaps you could expand upon that in a way that reveals something important about you.

I think you will have a stronger essay if you focus on a specific event rather than just generally (and hence vaguely) trying to describe what it is like to play or what music means to you.

Did your teacher or a coach or a conductor ever say something to you about music that was just totally amazing?
