Essays are windows to my child's mind

Application essays are windows to my child’s mind. I am glad that she is writing them and sharing them with me. I am learning so much about my child that I haven’t realized.

I agree! This process has so much value, final outcome notwithstanding. As stressful as it can be, it’s a great journey of self-discovery, and it has brought us closer as a family.

This is very similar to a topic being discussed on the main board:

I totally agree. In fact, I have found this entire BS process to be very illuminating – in a good way. Have a boy, it’s particularly gratifying, since we don’t usually get lots of prose, if you know what I mean

The process itself must surely winnow out some (please). DC is applying to six BS and one day and it is a lot of work for all of us!

I agree, too. It will also be an opportunity for your DD to look at herself. I tried not to make any influence on DD’s essay writing, believing it should be authentic. He got help from his middle school English teacher to look into the grammar. That’s it.
