Did anybody not get accepted to their first choice major at CALS? Because I really don't want to major in anything but Biological Sciences, but I still want to go to Cornell, so I was thinking that putting down a second-choice major gives me a better chance at acceptance. Do you think this is true, and do you think my chances at this major/school are decent?

(1420 SAT, 630 Writing, 660 US History, and 680 Chem SATIIs; rank: 37/~465; legacy (Great Grandfather went to Cornell for Law in 1907))

Thanks

Also, what did some of you guys write your intellectual interest essays on? I wrote mine on how I was intrigued with the brain, music, and scrabble... are the latter two of the three not the sorts of things Cornell is looking for? Thanks!

i think cornell is looking for a statement that describes your individual interests...if you are really interested in something, I think they want to hear about it.

I wrote my "intellectual interest" essay on using applied math to defend America (so you can be alittle abstract as long as you are coherent and not obviously b.s. ing)

Good luck

Hockeygenius17, that sounds VERY interesting. Could I possibly read it sometime, if its not too personal? IM me at escaflowne62.

it really isnt that detailed all i do is say how my views towards math have evolved over my h.s. career and how my love for country motivates me to use math (maybe science) to pursue a field that will help the U.S.

hm...does anyone know the answer to werd's question? I really only wanna do biological sciences too..should i write tat other essay though?
