Any idea, roughly, how long the 2 essays from BU’s Supplemental Application should be ? I see no minimum / maximum / suggested number of words or pages as in other supplements ? Thanks. MBJ

is BU's Supplemental up??

i did applications very long ago so im not positive but i believe my main essay was 2 pages long and my suppplementals were no more than a page. they dont want u to draw anything out and give them 10 pages to read. remember, they have thousands of these to sift through.

Ali...I tend to agree with you....an essay that is too long runs the risk of being ignored. In fact, sometimes, I wonder what the whole point of the essays are. Thanks.

anytime, dont hesitate

there is a character limit, i'm not sure what it is though. if you exceed the max number of characters a box will pop up and it won't let you type anymore so don't worry.

Directly from the supplement:
1) What experiences have led you to select your professional field and objective?
Complete only if you are applying to Sargent College, the School of Education, the College of Engineering, the College of Communication, the School of Hospitality Administration, the School of Management, or any of the accelerated programs. (Max 3000 characters)
2) Students Consider many different factors when applying to college. Briefly discuss who or what influenced your decision to apply to Boston University. (Max 2000 characters)

So just for clarification. If you are planning to apply to CAS you do not have to do #1?

Asking a 17 / 18 year old about experiences that led to select their professional field ?

Well that's the point. They don't want to admit you into a specific professional curriculum if you are going to change your mind in two weeks. You may still change your mind, but they want to see that they are admitting students to business or hospitality programs, for example, that are actually interested in business or hospitality.

Plus, it's just another way to get to know the students. BU really looks at all the essays because it's really your chance to shine.

So just for clarification. If you are planning to apply to CAS you do not have to do essay question #1???

no, you do not have to do essay #1 for CAS

If applying for business, that is considered the School of Management ?

smg is for business majors, unless u wanna do economics which i believe is cas

Thanks Ali. I think you are correct.

Thanks for the essay topics but does anyone know where this supplement is? I can't find the link on the Common App website or the BU admissions website

Rodney, I'm with you. The BU website says to go to Common App, but Common App doesn't show a supplement for BU. Now what?
