So I am entering my Senior year, and I am confused about essays. I know that some colleges require only the Comm. App., while others require it and an "essay." Is this an essay of choice, a designated subject, or what? Do I write simply one essay to send to all of my schools? Confused! Thanks!

The schools will specify what topic they want you to write an essay or essaies (uh. That plural form looks weird..) on. If schools accept the Common App, they will usually have a supplement for you to fill out, which is mostly two to three more essay topics.

Haha, it's essays. With the common app, they give you a couple of topics for you to specifically write about. Sometimes colleges request an additional essay if you are using the common, and they will specify which you should write about or give you free reign to write anything.
