I'm 50% Native American and I have a blood test that can prove it, but since I'm not registered does that mean I wouldn't be considered Native American? Thanks for anyone who posts

For the statistics for the US Dept. of Education, self-identification will be good enough. However, some scholarships will require formal tribal affiliation. This means that you need to ask each of the colleges and universities that you apply to how they want you to handle your situation.

Ehh, Just put Native American. If the college asks for more verification, then provide whatever documentation you have.

FYI: American Indian/Alaska Native is a racial, not an ethnic category. Hispanic is the only ethnicity of interest for college admissions.

Many colleges do not insist on a reg number, though those in areas of the country with large NA populations can. What can be expected is that you have some continued interest in the culture, etc. (Association is good, but not possible for some families.) If you feel this is your identity, go for it.

You may want to check each college or scholarship to find out if it has a tribal registration requirement for Native Americans, or if it uses the self-identification honor system like for all other race or ethnicity questions.
