<p>We sent a short email to the admissions office. It was part of the decision process for us. It permanently crossed them off the list and now she can focus on her final 3 choices.
I also agree that it is a simple and polite thing to do, and another teaching moment for my D.</p>
<p>Agree about opening up spaces/money for other kids. When my 2nd son was accepted to UIUC and he accepted, he got more money during April and possibly May (if I recall correctly). We surmised that it was scholarship money that became available from others not attending. And yes, we appreciated it!</p>
