ETS : Score Reports worth the 17 $ Price ?

Hello,

I'm from India.
I appeared for TOEFL IBT on May 22nd this year, but I never received any score reports from ETS.
Therefore, I ordered Additional Paper Score Reports to be sent to my home address.

It has been over 1 month that I have placed the order, & I'm yet to receive any feedback or mail from ETS.
I called ETS to inquire about the matter, they said that "Please allow upto 4 weeks for Intl. Shipping" & when I further asked about tracking numbers they said, we send all the reports via First Class Mail.

So, my question is when will I receive my score reports ? Any got experiences ?

And is ETS's 17 $ Score Reports worth all the money, when they use only 0.98$ for shipping ?

Thanks.

No Replies ?

I am surprised that you ordered a score report for yourself. Don’t you see your iBT scores online?

Those $17 don’t just pay for the piece of paper you receive in the mail. They help keep the business running. But I agree that ETS’s services are terribly expensive for a non-profit organisation.

@bar!um

I don’t know but tell me then how will you prove your Test Scores in the Visa Interview without an official score report.

That’s a good point.

I printed out a copy of my ETS scores online. Candidate score reports are considered unofficial anyway. If you requested an official score report for yourself, be careful not to break the seal on the envelope before your interview.

I don’t know, but I have broken the seal of the envelope…to check whether the score reports are OK or not.
I don’t think breaking the seal of the envelope will do any harm & being considered unofficial, as it bears the official ETS logo/stamp inside along with my photo being stamped by the examining center authority.
The only thing I fear right now is that whether my scores will seem reasonable enough for the Visa Officer, I have heard horror stories about the interview… :(

Anyways… I got 88 in IBT, is that enough to convince the Officer of my English proficiency ?

Hello ?

No Replies ?

i know quite a few people who just printed out the results page (i think its from the website or something) and used that. didn’t have any issues. i think problems only arise when you can’t speak proper english during the interview which is when the person interviewing you may make an issue outta it.

Yes, that’s true !
But you know what…It also depends on the country itself…
Like 80% of ppl don’t return from USA (Like India), therefore the V.O are always on the search of any flaw which they will exploit to deny the visa.

trust me on this: if they want to screw you over, they’ll use ties to home country etc (which almost always is difficult to prove). they won’t bother with the english language proficiency bit…

I have about 3 houses on my name & cars/garages etc worth 2 Crores INR…
My mom owns a music school(I’m the boss, as mom’s undergone tumour surgery) & am the only son.

Are these enough to prove Home Ties i.e Visa not denied under 214(b) ???

that should more than suffice lol.

No I mean seriously…are these enough ?
Cause some Agent told me you must show more Home Ties like Job Offer Letter post-graduation etc stuff & more !
How can I manage a Job Letter at Age of 18(HS Pass out) when companies need atleast a Bach.Degree to even consider for a Job ?

theyre enough. the visa officer just wants you to show that you have a reason to return to your home country once your studies are done. property is good enough for this.

I know…
When I go through the basics of the Interview Req. I have found that I have more than sufficient
BUT
When I hear stories, they freak the hell out of me !
