Well, that’s why I did not delete your explanation. The issue is that we have neither the manpower nor the inclination to monitor external sites, and even though the Pope tweets (well, he dictates the tweet; apparently he’s never used a computer), as well as many colleges, Twitter is also filled with a lot less savory content.
I know! Of course, I don’t expect CC moderators to comb through every post. As someone said, 75% of the web is videos and photos of cats, 20% is spam, rage, and porn, and only 5% is somewhat useful content.
NYMomof2, I saw the three pack, but can only vouch for the soft fruit peeler. Here’s an okay link for the furminator. I bought a knock off one a few years ago and boy, is that handy! http://www.amazon.com/FURminator-Long-Hair-deShedding-Large/dp/B0040QQ07C/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1439336710&sr=1-1&keywords=furminator
I’m ashamed of you @BunsenBurner for implying that videos and photos of cats on the Internet are not useful! I beg to differ! The photo of your two cuties, for example, makes me smile whenever I see it! So that’s useful right there!
I’ve turned S & DIL, as well as D & futureSIL, on to Downy Fresh Protect Odor Shield for their workout clothes and they love the way it masks the icky odors that lurk on microfiber based clothes. Someone upthread mentioned Method detergent and I’ve loved using that since it takes so much less than conventional products.
What’s the difference between Downy Fresh Protect Odor Shield and Downy Unstoppable Scent Booster?
My D introduced the Unstoppable to me.

Hey, those are my porn. I could watch cat and dog videos all day.
:x
cbreeze, I’ve wondered the same thing when I’ve seen them on the shelf next to each other. Not sure of the specific differences.
Banana Slicer, anyone? While on the subject…
Instead of Baby Foot, I do the Listerine-vinegar-warm water soak then use a pumice.
I love New Skin Liquid Bandage, crock pot liners, and homemade poo spray recipes! All great for the college kids too!
Parchment paper! I’ve used it for baking cookies for years, but after a volunteer group cooking dinner for my favorite local non-profit used parchment paper on all the baking trays for Tater Tots I realized it’s a great way to make clean-up easier for many cooking application including roasting vegetables.
Downy Wrinkle Release spray. Mist it over a shirt, swipe your hands over the body of the item, tug on the seams, and the wrinkles disappear. In fact, the product itself has been disappearing from stores in my area, but Target still carries it. I found a very simple “recipe” online but never tried to make my own. It’s also useful if you’re trying to get wrinkles out of a large item such as a bedspread or tablecloth.
Biz, Oxyclean, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.
These things, stainless steel scrubbers, are fantastic. They look like they’d scratch the surface but I have never had that problem. Great for cleaning the greasy brown residue from toaster oven (including the rack), stove-top under burners (mine is a slightly textured stainless Dacor surface), and burned-on food in pans. Not that I ever burn anything:

I have some old Magic Cloths microfiber cleaning cloths. They’re wonderful. Based on comments above, I’ve just ordered three different microfiber cloths, one of which seems to be the original Magic Cloth. I agree that some of those available are worthless.
@Happy2Help - What the heck is poo spray?!
WD-40 does a great job repelling ants.
We had a stream of ants coming out of the wall where it meets the stairs. I used the straw-like red tube to spray WD-40 into that tiny opening (spraying under the stairs in the crawl space as much as I could) and no more ants.
@doschicos check out poopourri.com then Google for homemade recipes of it. It’s been very popular in the dorms!
The Furminator is amazing - who knew there was so much hair on one small cat? One of my cat loves to be brushed with the it and the other cat is afraid of it…
The only downside is that I feel like I’m never finished brushing our cats when I use the Furminator. I brush and brush and brush and there’s STILL more hair coming out.
Press and Seal- no more cling wrap for me. I also love the Furminator and Mr Clean sponges. And yes, parchment paper is great but I also have a reusable silicon one that I slip under pies that cleans up great.
Carbona is awesome. DD smeared a huge swath of kohl eye makeup loose powder on her beige rug. I tried every product imaginable and I thought the carpet was ruined. Carbona and lots and lots of blotting made the stains vanish. After that debacle that makeup went right into the trash.
They make different formulations for different stains. Smells a bit like dry cleaning fluid but it works!
If you hate roaches, you’ll love ‘Hot Shot Pest Control Concentrate’. Mix a 1 oz. bottle with water in gallon sprayer and spray baseboards and under sinks, etc. and the only roaches you might see again will be dead roaches…the best kind of roach. Home Depot sells stuff for under $9.00.
I’ve used Simple Green cleaning spray where I see sugar ants coming into our breakfast room from outside and it seems to do the trick.
Also, I soak workout clothes in the washing machine in cold water in 1 cup of white vinegar before washing to remove the gross smell. I buy vinegar by the gallon at either the grocery store or Wal-Mart - I think it’s maybe $3 at most - and keep it with the laundry supplies.
“Parchment paper! I’ve used it for baking cookies for years…”
I am not a big baker - basically chocolate chip cookie is about my speed, but I decided to try making my own granola bars and a friend recommended Silpat. Fabulous product. . I’m sure most people who do a lot of baking already know about it - but for me it was a new product.
