Evaluation of Indian school marks for MIT

So should I do that? Convert it into letter grades? What do you say?

I’d do it, but keep in mind that its dishonest. You’re using a random scale found on the internet. I could use some other scale that puts my marks in an even more favorable light.

I’m not using any random guideline. It’s the WES guidelines. And if possible, I’d send it to WES to get them evaluated but they won’t accept school marks.

Anyways, if it’s a huge dishonesty, then I’d rather send them the way they are.

Its not a huge dishonesty. Its sort of a clever trick. I’d do it, if my principal explicitly allowed it.

can that get a person into huge trouble later on?

Potentially, your admission could be revoked, but thats about it, and is slightly unlikely.

You seem to know a lot about admissions. Do you know anyone whos made it to MIT or the Ivies from India? What were their ECs like?

I know several people who went to the Ivies. They’re all over-achievers. And I know 2 people who went to MIT, they were truly brilliant.

What were their ECs like? The ones that got into MIT…

I’m reluctant to talk too much about them, because my identity is sorta public, and that would be awkward, but its not really their ECs that mattered. They were able to demonstrate passion for something, and their ECs revolved around that passion.

Here is one super-duper-dudess from India who got into MIT

[Mumbai girl wins International Physics Olympiad](Mumbai girl wins International Physics Olympiad)

She is also smart enough to know Noam Chomsky is one of a kind.

esconie, please congratulate that girl on my behalf. ;)

Yeah that was big news, read about that person in Times of India. Tippu, do you know anyone else? About their ECs…

Esconie is super-helpful and sweet, I must say :)

@aniruddhc do you know anyone at MIT or the Ivies and the likes? what were their stats, ECs like?

I do know esconie personally.

I know someone at Hopkins, Brown (CCer!), UPenn (CCer!) and some more which I can’t recollect :S

@aniruddhc What kind of ECs and stats did the Brown University guy have? All stellar?

Oh,if you’re averaging 60% then I’d be less worried if I were you
What is your class rank for each standard?I would be good if you can report that in your transcript, because if the others are also faring the same as you,‘relativity’ shall be taken into perspective.Like I mentioned in my previous post.
We all know about the marking system in India man,so…join the group :)

Aniruddh,Tippu-who’s esconie?
