Evaluation of Indian school marks for MIT

I think you have to send the Class XII rank (since the applicant is presently in Class XII), isn’t it? Anyways, my principal said that he might also mention my school rank based on ICSE.

Esconie is the same girl in that NDTV article! :)

Woooooooow(I think that covers 10 chars)

Err…Tippu, ‘that girl’ says thanks :stuck_out_tongue: Btw, im doing linguistics research here yayy! But not with chomsky :(

Rohan, yeah, you need to put the class 12 rank…

esconie, we are all very proud of you and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this forum. We expect to hear more about your achievements in the coming years. All the best.

Thanks Tippu  i expect to hear about you guys’ achievements in the future ok!

@esconie Since you’re an MIT student, then do you think I should let my Principal convert my school marks to American equivalent grades using the WES guidelines as my Principal says?

I think not.at the most you can report both, your actual marks and the converted ones with an explanation of the conversion methodology, but I don’t really recommend it…

esconie-Would you mind explaining why?Because my school is going to convert into grades percentile wise.Do you recommend that the transcript should display the real marks along with the converted percentile grade also?

And congratulations on all that you have achieved,I’m sure you’ll go on to do great things later on :)

Perfectpixie (love the name btw  ) - thanks! I think omitting the actual marks could potentially be viewed as misleading/hiding information (I’m not saying thats what it is, but why risk it?) Percentiles in addition to actual marks would actually be helpful, I’d say go for it, but I really don’t see the point of WES grades - given how varied Indian school systems are, a catch-all conversion would have to be more or less arbitrary right. The point is, they do have experience with Indian applicants, so why bother with dicey procedures which may cause them to misinterpret your intention? But in your case, I think adding the percentiles alongside is a good idea :-)

Thanks esconie(nothing was striking me when I was registering on CC and this was written on my pink tee)!
Coming to your opinion, yes I think that would be best. However,Modern School, that sends loads of students to top univ’s each year follows the grade only procedure(percetile grade just like in the boards).Plus there’s this horrible physics score(aaah, why am I talking cbse physics with you!!) that I dont want displayed on my transcript no matter what my percentile is.
However, yes I agree that it’s better to be on the safe side and displayboth.

Lol pixie there’s no option but to display Physics on your transcript right?

What exactly is the percentile thing you’re talking about?

Esconie, how much does it cost for one copy of the 9th+10th transcript at our school? Annd does that transcript include the board exam marks as well?

Hey…my percentile in physics would be fine(I think top 10%),but I just dont like the look of the marks.
Percentile wise meaning if youre in the top 10% then you get an A,and so on.I think those are the grades you get,I havent gotten my school transcript yet,so I acn’t tell for sure.

Hmm sounds good!

I didn’t do well in 12th physics either  shakes head at boards lol

it costs 150/200 per transcript (i forgot) but they have this awesome format, its ten pages long and it looks really really cool!

Haha esconie I know how much you got in Physics in the 12th! (fb status tha :P)

Oh interesting! 10/12 pages long!?! What did they fill up in that? Tell me tell me :)

Chal I’m gonna ask for one extra copy and tell my present school to make an identical transcript.

I love my previous school <3 I visited it today and spoke to all my old friends (I visit once in three weeks anyway lmao) and saw the new staff room and all that- amazing to say the least.

You liked it? I didn’t recognize it, felt like some fancy hotel!! lol. but yeah, i <3 that school :-)

they basically put in the entire icse syllabus, also the schools history/philosophy, ur percentiles scores, everything. in fact it has everything but ur 10 std marks (which i thought was the point hehe) u gotta attach a certified copy of the icse marksheet separately :O

yeah yeah laugh laugh. hsc bah! perfectpixie’s better off, my percentile was probably much much worse hehe

If you don’t mind, how much did esconie get in 12th Physics? 12th as in the boards or the school?

@esconie would you please tell a bit about your 12th Physics marks?

12th as in boards. Why does it matter?! Lets just say it was loooooowwww
