low is relative. the school marks in all subjects must’ve been all great?

Not so much, school is pretty chindi with marks. But board physics (and chem haha) were exceptionally bad, especially relatively cos everyone is supposed to score highly in boards. But then I had a valid excuse…

Anyways, the board result comes after the decisions so do they figure in the decisions? If you don’t mind, can you mention the rough range of your school marks in science?

That depends. My marks were wildly different b efore/after tenth grade. And again, I fail to see how this mqtters, school marks aren’t the most significant thing in an application…

Well she had malaria during her boards hence she didn’t get 100/100

By low she doesn’t even mean 95 :)

The board results arrive in May or something hence they aren’t considered for admission decision.

Stupid, I know.

Esconie, they should convert our school into a 5* hotel after school hours or something
The canteen food is amazing enough lmao

Do they give more importance to board marks? and how much importance is given to extracurriculars in the MIT Admissions? colossal importance? I’ve extracurriculars like many house activities but nothing national level.

ahh esconiee, im a friend of aniruddhh & he’s told me so much about you! you are my idol!! haha.

and low for you someone like you is prolly 90-95 lmao

and esconie, in your honest opinion, what do you think is the most important in admissions decisions

riiiiiiiiiiiight esconie.Of course,Im better off than you!Without doubt.
Hm.And I wonder why I do not feel elated? ;)

DONT remind me of school food. Don’t do it! What wouldn’t I give for a good ole vada pav right now!!!

Low means much below 90, nuff said.

RohanG, jbubbles - I dont know. Honestly, I’m no expert. But going by my personal experience, what I think they look for is uniqueness ie everyone does well in exams, so what else have you done (it need not be extracurricular even, but you do need something)? For MIT at least I do know that the interview is super duper important. In general though, I have no clue. I’m still wondering how I got in and some equally (in some cases more) talented people I know didn’t…

@esconie - hello, i am getting around 700-740 in CR. What should I do to get 800. I am able to drop down the choices to 2, but this dilemma always takes me to the wrong choice… (i am almost perfect in sentence completion though)… Tell me some more ways to improve CR… How did you managed… I wish I get CR 800…

I really don’t know how to. Practice, I guess. If you’re able to go down to two then you should get it right ~half the time right. If you’re Always getting it wrong (highly improbable) then just mark the option you’re less sure of anyway don’t worry about it. I got into Stanford with a CR score of 710…

@esconie - (If you want to) please tell me what do u think was their in your application which made you stand out from the applicant pool of Stan and MIT…

I don’t know. Like I said, I’m pretty confused about this myself…

OK… you seem to be a “chuppa rustam” sort of person…

hahah this thread has officially become the esconie fanclub lmaoo

esconie, what kinda questions did they ask you during the interview? and was it over skype

I am definitely a fan and I am not ashamed of it.

Empty pots make the most noise.

@everyone - I am with TippuSultan…
@TippuSultan - Why did you chosed Tippu Sultan? Are you planning to major in Indian History…

harisheena, actually i made a mistake. It should have been TipuSultan (son of Hyder Ali). I love reading the history of my native place and Tipu figures prominently. He is one of the rulers who stood up to the firangis.

Guys, please! You’re embarrassing me!!
jbubbles - it was more a conversation than an interview, we discussed all sortsa random things not skype, it was at the ec’s office in bombay…
