Ignore the fact that it refers to "MIT" and "college admissions", this is VITAL insight that EVERY highschooler/ incoming college freshman should take to heart in regards to their academics. Don't believe the cliches when it comes to "what colleges are looking for", the belief that there's an unequivocal correlation between grades and intellect, you decide what you will make of yourself, no one else can or will do it for you. Nothing comes without effort.

That was a fantastic post. Wow.

“It’s scary to acknowledge that it’s a decision because it puts the onus on you to to do something about it, but it’s empowering because it means there is something you can do about it. So do it.”

^One of my favorite quotes from it.

The people that work for As in high school will be more successful in college than those for whom As come naturally. In general, grades are more related to work than intelligence. In fact, I’d say that work turns INTO intelligence over time.
Long story short, just do your work, and do it well.

I’ve seen this a few times, but it always has the same effect on me as the first time. I love that response.
